OUR UNIQUE
MEMORIAL
GARDEN
Our beautiful private water garden at Chesil House is available for an interment of ashes, where Richard Steel & Partners have provided the funeral. The peaceful location in the heart of Winchester provides a stunning alternative to a cemetery or churchyard.
Each interment takes place individually using a temporary casket that allows the ashes to disperse into the ground. The plots are unmarked, to preserve the beauty of the walled garden, but each plot is noted in our records for future reference. Plots are suitable for two interments and can therefore be reopened again in due time.
Alternatively, we can assist with a scattering of ashes from the private bridge over our own tributary of the River Itchen, allowing a personal family time in a secluded tranquil setting.
Our Memorial Garden is often called a ‘hidden gem in the heart of Winchester’.
Open Monday to Friday, visits to the Memorial Garden are by appointment, please contact us to book a date and time. Fresh flowers may be brought into the garden and placed in the vases provided. No other personal items are allowed so that the garden remains as natural and unencumbered as possible for everyone to appreciate.
Should you wish to make a donation towards the seasonal plants and shrubs, please speak to someone at the Memorial Garden or your Funeral Director.
If you would like a lasting and unique dedication to a loved one, our Book of Remembrance and our Memorial Tree are available at Chesil House. Please ask for details of these beautiful options.
Featuring hand painted motifs with exquisite calligraphy and gilding, our Book of Remembrance is opened daily and can be viewed by appointment. Entries can be between 2 to 5 lines and you may choose the date on which this appears.
