As a trustee of Winchester Hospice Iain spent 4 days in the high heat of the Moroccan desert in November 2024.
The team of 22 walkers, including nursing staff and volunteers, trekked over sand dunes, dry riverbeds and rocky terrain to raise valuable funds to support the wonderful Winchester Hospice. Sleeping in basic tents, with no shower or proper toilet facilities they each carried limited kit and lots of water to help cover the 50kms.
Led and supported by an excellent Berber team and their 10 camels – it was an incredible experience built on camaraderie, laughter and perseverance. By the end the group had a fine selection of blisters (not Iain) and a pair of very broken boots (Iain). Overall, the challenge raised nearly £80,000.
